WHAT WE DO

The St Barnabas Community Fete is a non-religious, participatory, free and not-for-profit festival organised by local people to:

· Bring residents of all ages, faiths, abilities & races together for an afternoon of family fun & entertainment to celebrate the good things in the neighbourhood.

· Draw attention to local issues in areas such as education, health, crime and the environment.

· Encourage volunteering & community action, through partnership with organisations such as Age Concern, Tower Hamlets Local Area Partnership and the LBTH Youth Parliament.

The fete aims to break down barriers between diverse social groups, promoting trust between people of different faiths, ages and ethnic origins, and works for the long-term benefit of the community.

In recent years we've been asked to take part in a number of research projects looking into community cohesion,  including Zurich's Living Britain study and work undertaken by Professor Margaret Harris of Aston University.
